Wow! Can you believe how the time has passed. Sorry for no updates but the Funhouse has been very busy.
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving. 16 joined us for Thanksgiving Dinner. 10 can for a visit afterwards. We also included 3 of mans best friends.
We had so much fun! I believe Bryan had a chance to see his family except for his Dad and Barbara. Between the dogs and children there was not a dull moment.
Oh! The turkey was not done. We had ham so we cut what we could of the turkey and served Ham, Turkey, 8 side dishes, 2 pies, 2 types of cookies, Pumpkin bread and Banana nut bread. A Lot of food!
I understand that the mans best friends was worn out and sleep well that night, except for Rosco...remember he is a puppy and once he had a nap he was ready to go again. If you get a chance go to Jennifer and Cary's blog and check out the Rosco Video.
I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving.

Wow what a Thanksgiving! So much fun.We had 16 friends and families for lunch. 10 friends and families stopping in for a visit. And we even had 3 of man's best friends. We were puppy sitting and believe me he was the hit of the day.

We did have one small problem, the turkey did not get done in time. We carved what we could and served it. We did not want someone getting food poisoning.

It was so nice to have the little ones here. They are all so sweet. They played together so well and the dogs loved them. Now the 3 dogs also had a lot of fun playing together. It was so funny. Okay so Ditto was not to crazy about the dogs being in her yard so she found a chair and sit in it until I made her come in. Not a happy cat.

I do hope that everyone that joined us had a good time. I hope everyone else enjoyed today and gave thanks for all the family and friends you have.

As many of you know Locks for Love is a very special charity that makes hairpieces and wigs for children. I have been growing my hair out now for about 7 years for this very cause. Well since the grey is coming in a little more than what I would like, I decided it was time! I can donate it with less than 5% grey, any more than that could or would be sold off to other wig makers to offset the cost of manufacturing the hairpieces and wigs for the children.

I really want to believe that a little girl or boy will be receiving my donation. So here are a few pictures for you to see.

If you can not read the numbers on the measuring stick it is 16". Not bad for an old lady. LOL

If you or someone you know would like to donate hair or money please go to the following website:http://www.locksoflove.org/help.html

I know a few of you would think our cats are spoiled. Well I believe Vader tops all of them. Remember he is Bryan's cat. He enjoys breakfast in bed.

Then after I have given him his insulin shot, he gets a drink and goes back to bed. He and Bryan will sleep as long as they can. Funny thing is Bryan never realized this was happening until I was telling him about it one day. The weekends? Well Vader wakes me up, (if Athena has not pushed the lamp over on me yet) we would hate to mess up such a nice routine.

"Dogs have masters. Cats have servants."
I wanted to let you know Ashton is doing great. I stopped by the weekend before Halloween to give him his goody bag. He was getting ready to go shopping for a Spider Man costume for Halloween.
On Oct 1st you can see he has some hair coming back in. NOW! I think it has gotten redder and thicker. He is doing fine and still a bit shy, but once he warms up to you watch out.

I've been tagged! What is it I'm suppose to do?? Okay I think I have it. :)

This picture was taken in the Spring. My supervisor Ditto went out with me to work in the yard. She is only allowed out in the back yard and inside the fence. I have to watch her to be sure she has not decided to explore out to the driveway. As I was busy working in the yard I noticed that Ditto had disappeared. "Ditto, Ditto where are you?!" Well as I was looking for her I noticed something different in a pot on the patio I just prepared for new plants(s). This is odd who did this? What type of plant is it? Maybe a new type of Catus? A Cattail plant? A Catalpa? Then I realized that was not a new plant that someone was trying to surprise me with, it was my supervisor, Ditto! You just can't find a good supervisor now days!

Everyone I know has been tagged so I guess this tag ends with me! Beware! I may start the next one.

Remember mulch is not just for decoration, it really has a purpose. The mulch helps keep bugs out. In the Winter/Fall it helps keeps the plants warm and protected from frost or freezing weather. In the Spring/Summer it is to help keep moisture in and the roots cool.

Ashton Update

I wanted to let you know that Ashton is scheduled to have his port removed on October 31st. Originally it was to be on the 10th but due to allergies the hospital rescheduled it.

As soon as he is over this little surgery I think he deserves to go visit Bonkers!

Remember a child can choke on a balloon if the balloon pops in their mouth. Please teach the little one to keep all balloons out of their mouths and that latex balloons are a one day day and needs to go in the trash that night!
Happy Halloween Everyone!

I wanted to share some common-sense practices that can make Halloween or Fall Harvest or Treat n Trunk events safer and fun!

Walk, slither and sneak on the sidewalks, NOT the streets.

Look both ways before crossing the street to check for cars, trucks and low flying brooms.

Cross the street only at corners.

Don't hide or cross the street between parked cars.

Wear light colored or reflective type clothing so you are more visible (remember to put reflective tape on bikes, skate boards and brooms too!)

Plan your route and share it with your family. Have an adult go with you.

Carry a flashlight to light your way.

Keep away from open fires and candles. (Costumes can be extremely flammable)

Visit homes that have porch lights on.

Accept your treats at the door and never go into a stranger's house.

Use face paint rather than mask or items that will cover your eyes.

Be cautious of animals and strangers.

Have a grown up inspect your treats before eating, and don't eat candy if the package is already opened.

Small, hard pieces of candy are a chocking hazard for young children.

There are lots of places to go Trick or Treating this year. Area Church's are having Fall/Autumn Harvest or Treat or Trunk. The mall is passing out candy. The City of Lewisville is having Autumn Extravaganza on Oct 25th admission is 1.00 and they will be having a costume contest for different age groups. So check your local area and see what safe and fun events are in your area.

Got to fly!

We had the Fire Dept Open House yesterday. It was a lot of fun. We saw old friends that we see every year and made new ones. A co-worker came up and brought her daughter and 2 cousins.. That was fun. There was a little boy that decided he like Petunia and wanted her to hold him. I believe that went on for about 5 mins. Sweet little one! We heard the Drums and Pipes play. Oh! I love to hear the bagpipes. They demostrated the Jaws of life. I finally had the chance to see one. We meet Storm, Pepper and Hope that are area Search Dogs. Careflight came that was a hit. Over all it was a lot of fun. We will have some pictures up next week for you to look at. Bryan will post them to www.laughingj.com. Web album. If you would like to see a video that Cary (chestMutt Productions) put together go to http://lewisville-lafs.webs.com. it is really good!

Does your family know where your meeting place is. Talk about it today!

Ashton's Test Results

I wanted to let you know that the MRI and blood work on Ashton came back. He is cancer free!

Now we need to encourage him to use his prosthetic leg. He gets around very well without it but I think once he uses it we will need to be in running shoes!

I want to tell you something Ashton told his mother one day. They were to talk to him about his new leg. Kim told him he would be able to walk with the new leg. He looked down at his one and looked back up and told his mom " No! RUN!" Is that not the sweetest words.
If you would like to read more on Ashton please scroll down an entry or two. There will be more on Ashton as time goes by so feel free to stop by and check in.

Again THANK YOU for all the prayers this last year.

Please donate your unused toys to your local Children's Hospital.

They're Not Heavy, They're My BROTHERS

As many of you know I have a lot of siblings! Well I had the chance to see Toney my oldest younger brother this week. He and his wife Angie drove in from South Carolina.

I think the last time he was in was about 5 years ago. I enjoyed seeing him and listening to him talk. I had to keep reminding him he was from Texas. He has been in South Carolina for almost 20 years now. He is still Toney.

Toney is a very proud grandfather of 2 year old Lathan. Lathan's name for Toney is Pappa Tex. Lathan has this 6' 4 " man wrapped around his little finger.

Toney and I were close as children since we were only 3 years apart and no other siblings at the time.

I guess one of my many favorite memories is when the Sears Toy catalog came and he and I would go through it front and back circling the toys we wanted. He always wanted Trucks and Tractors. Don't worry I played with them too. He made some really neat roads to drive them on. He would take the time to build hills, and trees.

Wow! He is so laid back and enjoying life as it comes to him. I guess that is where we are different! Be thankful Toney, be thankful!

Angie is so sweet and just an angel. She has to be a saint to take on that Martin Temper curse! I don't have a lot of pictures of her since she was behind her camera taking pictures too.

I really need to go visit Toney in South Carolina. I guess the warning Toney gave me is keeping me away. Once you visit there you don't want to come back to Texas. I do have plans to visit but I'm a TEXAN and I will come back home.

Love ya Toney!
to be con't.....

Remember to tell your love ones how much you love them today!

ASHTON UPDATE

I wanted to update everyone on Ashton's progress. Ashton has completed his chemo and radiation treatments. His hair has grown back and it is a light strawberry blond. I do not think his developement slowed down at all. He can talk clearly and form sentences. I played with him for almost 4 hours. When I told him I had to leave, he told me "NO!" Well what is Tia T to do? I stayed a little longer of course. :)

He is scheduled for a MRI on Oct 2nd and blood work on Oct 3rd. If everything looks good they will remove the port from his chest this month. Now if we could just encourage him to put on and wear his prosthesis leg then you would never think he was a young cancer survivor.

I want to THANK each of you for your prayers. The pictures tell you the story of how prayers work!

I will keep you posted here on the blog as Ashton adjust to life cancer free, as a two year old should be.

September is National Children's Cancer Awareness Month.

The Parade is Coming! The Parade is Coming!

We had the Lewisville Western Day Parade today. We had Ashes, Radio, Story and myself (Petunia) there to represent the Lewisville LAFS Clown Program. Cary and Jennifer joined us and got the chance to ride on top of Engine 165. We had a lot of friends and neighbors shouting our names. We had a great time!

We love having Cary and Jennifer and all our friends there and the support you give us. Speaking of support, Cary has set up a web site for Lewisville LAFS. He had co-workers asking him what we did and he thought this would be a great tool to explain to them and anyone else who wants to know more. Cary has done a great job. You can go to http://lewisville-lafs.webs.com to check it out. He has dates of events, newspaper articles, safety facts...and more. So visit his web site and share with your friends! I would look in now and then because he is always adding something. :)

If you would like to see more pictures go to www.laughingj.com or Jennifer's Blog or http://lewisville-lafs.web.com

October is National Fire Prevention Month. Remember to test your smoke detectors once a month!

It's Finally Autumn!

This is one of my favorite times of the year! It's that time of year that you can enjoy the changing of the seasons. Just one of the brief seasons we have in Texas. How beautiful the trees look showing off their colors. Getting your hands in the dirt one last time with all the new fall plants. The colors!

I had a friend tell me that we should not plant pansies until after the summer heat but before the first frost. I will have to see if my schedule and seasons can coordinate that . LOL

Oh, then there is Halloween or Fall Harvest (which ever you prefer.) Then Thanksgiving.....Wait! I'm getting ahead of myself again. Oh It's Autumn!

Happy First Day of Autumn everyone!

This is also a good time to add shrubs or trees to your yard . Not only do you get huge discounts on them, this is the perfect time of year to plant them. They do not suffer as much from stress and they have time to get established before Summer. If you can, wait until winter to plant the trees.

Up coming event dates for Ashes and Petunia.

September 27th, The Western Day Parade @ 3:00 PM. We will only be in the parade.

October 4th, The Lewisville Fire Department Open House from 10:00 until 3:00 PM. We will be walking around and talking to everyone. Handing out trading cards and stickers. They will have food and drinks and sometimes Blue Bell Ice Cream. It will be at The Lewisville Central (#1) Fire Station at Main and Valley Parkway. So drop by for a visit if you can.

Ashes and Radio will start their Safety Skits at the schools on October 2nd. They have 13 schools in the area they will be visiting. If you would like more information on dates please contact Bryan.

Remember to buckle up when you are in your car. It's as simple as a click!

Welcome to The Jarvis Fun House

Welcome to the Jarvis Fun House. We call it this because you never know what will be around the corner.

I will try to post different events that Ashes and/or Petunia will be at. Maybe a posting of my yard now and then. And I hope many, many more. So buckle up and get ready for the ride.................

Monday is the first day of Autumn. Have you had your fire place checked for soot build up? Now is a good time to have a Chimney Check Up!
